Healthier for 2017

With New Year’s celebrations behind us, there is often a spike in gym memberships. One resolution that people like to make is getting fit, or losing weight, or just being more healthy in general.



Either way, regular exercise is great for the body and mind and today we’ll talk about why you should (if you do not already) get a weekly dose of physical exercise.

As a business man (or woman) you undoubtedly have plenty of thoughts going on in your mind throughout the day. You worry and might have trouble clearing your mind of your problems. By going to the gym and working out you simply take your mind off of work matters. Rest can be defined as a transition from mental activity to physical practice and vice versa.

Furthermore, it can help you sleep better at night, as long as you do not exercise too close before bed time.

Working out will also make you feel better about yourself. It’s one of those things that you don’t always want to do, but once you’re done you feel infinitely better. It will help you with your self-esteem and increase your self-confidence.

It is common knowledge that exercising in moderation can help prevent a wide variety of health problems that one may develop.

However, with work it can be difficult to find the time to go to the gym. One of the suggestions is to go early in the morning as it can give you a boost for the whole day. On the other hand you could also take your gym bag with you and go straight after work. Going home after work and picking up gym bag could also be an option but often times once we come home we just want to relax and not go anywhere -beware not to fall into this trap!
If you are just starting, try to get into the habit of routine exercise. Once you start making excuses and skipping the work outs then you become more prone to skipping them in the future.

If you absolutely can’t get a gym membership or don’t have time to go to the gym, try to at least have a little home work out. This can be as quick as 5 minutes to as long as 30 minutes. Some simple exercises are sufficient to provide great benefits. According to research, intensive exercise for two minutes is as good as a 90 minute run.

Either way – any exercise is better than no exercise. Who doesn’t have time for a few dozen push-ups and sit-ups when they wake up?

Bonus tip: eat an apple a day!
